Tontine Methodist Church is a small and friendly church in Tontine Rd opposite the Delph tavern. It has been in existence for many years witnessing faithfully to a small community. In 2009 it celebrated 150 years of witness.
It has a small junior church which meets during Sunday morning worship on the 2nd Sunday of each month. There are a number of coffee mornings throughout the year when the entire church is open for people to come along and have fellowship over refreshments.
The church family have a deep social conscience and support the work of the Brick, Water Aid amongst others.
Its worship begins at 10.45am each Sunday and although mainly traditional the congregation is happy to engage in more contemporary forms.
The church is an active member of CTO (Churches together in Orrell) and plays a part in organised ecumenical activities.
“[Book I Psalms 1 – 41 Psalm 1] Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.”
